Willard Boepple

Willard Boepple (American b.1945) studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, the University of California at Berkeley, Rhode Island School of Design and CUNY City College. As with his sculptures, Boepple’s prints suggest an engaged process of play, experimentation and ultimate balance. He is a member of the National Academy and was awarded a Ford Foundation Faculty Enrichment Grant.

Alison Hall

Alison Hall (American b.1980) received a bachelor’s degree from Hollins University and a master’s from American University. She was a Bethesda Urban Partnership Fellow and has been awarded a fellowship by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The surfaces of her largely monochromatic works – sometimes a glowing ultramarine, sometimes a chalky-white or deep black – are carefully incised with graphite markings that suggest careful measurement within limitless spaces. Hall lives and works in Virginia.

Grégoire Hespel

Grégoire Hespel (French b.1961) studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. The seemingly humble subjects of his paintings – singular birds, fish and quiet cove-and-seascapes – thoughtfully explore how we see, think and receive the images of our surroundings. Hespel has exhibited his work in a number of one-man shows and group exhibitions in France, Belgium and Germany. He lives and works in Paris.

Eleanor Ray

Eleanor Ray (American b.1987) an earned a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and a master’s in painting from the New York Studio School, where one of her teachers was Stanley Lewis. Ray is known for her small format – these not-quite-miniature paintings are of recognizable scenes: backyard landscapes, shaded interiors, travel sightings and window-framed views. These deceptively “humble” works powerfully convey moments of attention, in which every visible brushstroke has a place within a carefully balanced whole.

Stone Roberts

Stone Roberts (American b.1951) paints with a level of technical precision reminiscent of the Old Masters. He creates figurative, interior and exterior works that are influenced by Greek mythology and 17th-century Dutch still lifes while set in modern times. His paintings present an abundance of material objects – they reflect personal surroundings that are realistic but feature added literary, classical or mythical elements.

Susan Sussman

Susan Sussman (American b.1945) received a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, a master’s in film from Columbia University and a certificate in painting from the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture. Recent works have explored the contrasting settings of ancient canyons of the American Southwest and modern man-made canyons of New York City. Sussman has shown her work at Prince Street Gallery in New York, NYSS and various juried shows.
